Many are wondering if I have died… I have not (at least not as of this writting). I have been updating ConklinImages.com regulary, and it doesn’t seem to make sense to update both sites.

So here’s the deal… below you will find all my latest posts from ConklinImages… just click on the titles to see the posts…

OK… so here’s the deal. I am going to continue to update things here. However, all of my posts that include photography that I have shot will be appearing on ConklinImages.com. To make things easy for you, whenever an updated post is on ConklinImages.com, it will appear to the right under “The Latest Photos”.

I am hoping to get a bit more serious about my photography hobby. It’s a great stress reliever for me. For more details on that, stay tuned to ConklinImages.com.

I use Wordpress to manage my blog contents. It can take a few days to get a wordpress template and plugins set up just the way that you like them. In an effort to make this a less time consuming thing, I asked Jim, a brilliant tech guy at work, if I could simply copy and paste all of the existing files from one site that I liked and paste it at the new location. He said yes and gave me a few pointers. I just did it successfully and wanted to share it with anyone who is looking to do the same.

Here’s what I did…

• Copy my existing mysql database and gave it a new name
• Copy the entire contents of old site to new site
• Update wp-config to point to the new database name
• update siteurl and blogname in the wp-options table in the mysql database
• if you don’t know your admin password, simply update it in the mysql database… be sure to select md5 in the drop down to the left of where you type the password.
• In the options area you need to change Blog address (URL): to the new url or the “view site” link won’t work in your admin area.

Just looking to see if I can write from my cell phone… If you can see this I guess I can.

I just installed some new tools to blog with…

First, Matt K. showed me WordPress, which is an open source tool for blogging that makes things really easy. My daughter Emily wanted to blog and I couldn’t let her because I would have to go into dreamweaver and edit code and everything else whenever she wanted to blog (She’s only 8). Now she’ll be able to just log in and go to town! Then, I found a plugin for it that allows you to edit your blogs with images and things (WYSIWYG) just like you do in Microsoft Word… Bloggin has gotten easier… more updates and a better blog to come.
