Neat Picture

Category: Photography, Family — Dave Conklin @ 12:35 am

Everytime I take pictures off my digital camera I play with them in Photoshop a bit to get them looking as good as possible. I thought that this one turned out interesting. It’s Haley and Marcus sitting in the middle of the Toys "R" Us parking lot today.

Annual Toy Drive

Category: Family — Dave Conklin @ 9:14 pm

I took off work today because Emily and Haley didn’t have school. So all six of us went to Toys "R" Us to purchase toys for the annual toy drive that the girls do.

If you’re not familiar, Emily and Haley throw a huge roller skating birthday bash every year at The Castle and instead of having people bring gifts for them, they ask that people bring a toy for a toy drive. This years toys will be going to the Quarryville CAP office.

I am so proud to see that girls are following in their mother’s footsteps when speaking of philanthropy.

By the way, the photo album has been updated with some pics of us at Toys "R" Us.

Today is a big day in our house because 1/3 of our six members celebrate birthdays. Girls I am extremely proud of you! Happy 10th birthday!

Halloween was a blast

Category: Family — Dave Conklin @ 5:21 pm

Every year Jodi and I make out our trip to Costco to get a ton of candy bars. Rory (My biz partner) gave me the idea a few years ago to hand out full size candy bars instead of the bite size ones that most houses give away.

Great idea other than the fact that now we have people lining up at our house because the word has spread.

Here’s some pics of our costumes.

Jodi’s sister, Lori went swimming with the boys! It was their first time in the pool and they had a blast!

Day Trip To Chesapeake City, MD

Category: Travel, Family — Dave Conklin @ 7:46 pm

Photo_072605_002.jpgI took the day off today to spend some time with Jodi and the boys. Emily and Haley went to SECA camp, as they do every year over the summer for a week. I think it’s good for them because they need to know how to kill with their bare hands and that’s what they teach them at camp. Just kidding…

Anyway, Jodi and I used Google Maps to find a neat place to go. We decided to follow a Southern trip and after about 1.5 hours of driving we came to Chesapeak City.

It was a neat town. They had a lot of shops and restaurants. It was entirely too hot though, so we didn’t walk arond outside a whole lot. While we were eating, Marcus and Matthew sat in their first high chair… so exciting!

I know there’s a cord somewhere!

Category: Family — Dave Conklin @ 11:31 pm

For those of you who don’t know, Emily, Haley, Jodi and I moved into our new home on February 17th of this year. A week later, on the 24th, Marcus and Matthew were born (3 months early). From then until the end of April our days were spent at the hospital with them. Here’s the issue…

During that time we were attempting to get boxes unpacked, purchase furniture, and just get our lives together as a whole. And also during that time, many things that once had a place in our home, seemed to vanish in the disorganization.

For example, my camera cord. If you use a digital camera, you know which one I mean. It’s the one that connects the computer to the camera so that you can download the pictures from the camera and get them uploaded to the computer.

In the past few days I’ve been taking picture after picture because i knew that I now had time to maintain my BLOG again. Tonight was going to be the big night. The night that I sat down and got the pictures online for your viewing pleasure.

Well, it’s not going to happen. My office is now a disaster area from my intense digging and I need to put it back together. So, i’m off to do something that doesn’t involve digital camera pictures… I know that you are devestated that you don’t get to see my picture… just don’t report me to the police for it and we’ll be ok.

What You See Is What You Get!

I just installed some new tools to blog with…

First, Matt K. showed me WordPress, which is an open source tool for blogging that makes things really easy. My daughter Emily wanted to blog and I couldn’t let her because I would have to go into dreamweaver and edit code and everything else whenever she wanted to blog (She’s only 8). Now she’ll be able to just log in and go to town! Then, I found a plugin for it that allows you to edit your blogs with images and things (WYSIWYG) just like you do in Microsoft Word… Bloggin has gotten easier… more updates and a better blog to come.
